Omega-3 for you and me! (Why I like sardines, and you should too)
Posted on: April 17, 2009
Outside of my immediate family, I am the only one I know that likes sardines. I think this is a great travesty. Sardines are like magic in a can. You pull that lid off, and your nasal passages are flushed with that delightfully fishy odor that makes your mouth start watering immediately. Sardines spread wondrously on crackers or bread, and, if you’re anything like me, they also taste great straight from the can into your mouth. Not only are sardines chock full of omega-3 fatty acids, which make your heart super happy, they are also portable, so you can whip out a can and start chomping away anytime!

One of these days I’d like to try making sushi with sardines. Seems an ideal solution, especially considering it’d save me the labor of preparing and slicing fishes. I could just spread the sardines on the rice and roll that tube on up! I’m thinking sardines could go great with avocado, or perhaps some spicy mayonnaise. Mmmmmm.

Ok, you like sardines. But why do you show herring in your picture?

So I just did a google search for kippered snacks, and discovered that they are indeed herring. And to think all this time I’ve been referring to them as sardines, hah! Anyhow, thanks for the tip, I feel a little bit more educated today =)
